VMI Swimming & Diving Falls to Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C.- The VMI Swimming & Diving fell to Davidson by a score of 131-61 Saturday afternoon in non-conference action. The Keydets fell to 3-3 in dual meets on the season, while Davidson improved to 3-6 this year.

The Keydets were led by senior diver Matt Dowdy (Richmond, Va./James River) took both the one-meter and three-meter diving events with scores of 145.13 and 155.03, respectively.

Four freshmen turned in second place finishes for the Keydets, led by Jake Jackson (Norfok, Va./Lake Taylor), who placed second in two events, with a time of 1:01.16 in the 100 butterfly and 1:12.13 in the 100 breaststroke. In the 100 freestyle, freshman Hank Lee (Arlington, Va./Hargrave Military) turned in a time of 51.78 seconds, while Jason Webb (Bowie, Md./Dematha Catholic) swam the 100 backstroke in 1:00.72. Chris Beyer (Reston, Va./Flint Hill) rounded out the impressive showing by the VMI freshmen with a time of 5:20.33 in the 500 freestyle event.

The Keydets return to action on Thursday evening, when they travel to Harrisonburg to take on James Madison University.
