Men's Soccer Falls to Howard

WASHINGTON, D.C.- A pair of first-half goals proved to be the difference, as Howard notched a 2-1 win over VMI Friday evening in men's soccer action.

The Keydets had plenty of offense, outshooting Howard 15-5, however, could not find an answer for Bison goalkeeper Jason Williams. Williams finished the game with nine saves to give Howard their first win of the season.

Howard (1-4-2) jumped on top early, when senior Christopher Serrano scored 25 minutes into the game off of a header following an assist from Devrae Tankard.

Jonnie Bess then added what would prove to be the game-winner in the 35th minute on a penalty kick.

VMI (3-3-1) got on the board just before halftime, when sophomore Charles Nweke struck for his sixth goal of the season.

That was all the Keydets' offense could muster though, as Williams continued to stymie VMI in the game's final period.

The Keydets return to action Wednesday, when they host Liberty at Patchin Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
