Keydet Swimming & Diving Falls to Davidson, 153-76

Radford, Va. -- The VMI swimming and diving team (4-5) fell to Davidson by a score of 153-76 on Saturday afternoon at Radford University's Dedmon Center.

Freshman Kevin Vik (Eagle River, Alaska/ Chingiak) was VMI's peak performer of the event. Vik placed first in the 1,000-yard freestyle event, touching the wall in a time of 10:25.74. He also placed first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:02.95.

Junior Jim Driggs (Mechanicsville, Va./ Atlee) placed second in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 23.37 seconds. He also took the silver medal in the 100-yard backstorke, touching the wall in 57.66 seconds.

Sophomore Ken Rhee (Northridge, Calif./ John F. Kennedy) placed second in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing in 50.38 seconds.

Senior Ryan Beatley (Yorktown, Va./ Grafton) earned a second place finish of his own in the 100-yard breaststroke, coming in with a time of 1:06.91.

The Keydets will conclude their season February 20-22 at the Northeast Conference Championships in Landover, Md.
