VMI Swimming Loses at W&L, 117-88

Lexington, Va. -- The VMI swimming and diving team (2-2) dropped a 117-88 meet at Washington and Lee's Cy Twombly Pool on Saturday morning. The Keydets won four of the 11 events on the day.

Freshman Kevin Vik (Eagle River, Alaska/ Chingiak) won two individual events. He won the 1,000-yard freestyle event in 10:34.49 and then came back to win the 500-yard freestyle event in 5:06.29.

Freshman Kimball Yamaski (Freemont, Calif./ Mission San Jose) took top honors in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.21.

Senior Adam Sheldon (Glen Allen, Va./ Hermitage) placed second in the 100-yard freestyle event, clocking a time of 52.22 seconds.

Junior James Driggs (Mechanicsville, Va./ Atlee) took the silver medal in the 100-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 57.29 seconds.

Freshman Thomas Krotofill (Germany) placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking a time of 1:05.10.

VMI will swim again next Saturday against the College of Charleston in Radford, Va. at 4 p.m.
