LEXINGTON, Va. -- The VMI swimming team saw its record drop to 3-4 on Wednesday evening as the Keydets were defeated by cross-town foe Washington and Lee (3-3) by a score of 110-91 at the Cy Twombly Pool.

Junior Ryan Beatley (Grafton, Va./Grafton) led the Keydets with a first place effort in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:28.49). Senior Chris Lambert (Christiansburg, Va./Christiansburg) and freshmen Chris Eaton (River Forest, Ill./River Forest) and Bart Payne (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) each turned in second place performances in the 200-yard backstroke (2:17.49), 50-yard freestyle (23.87) and 1,000-yard freestyle (11:10.69), respectively.

VMI returns to action Saturday, January 11, when the Keydets swim at East Carolina. Start time will be 1 p.m.
