Keydet Swimming Drops Meet to Catholic, 120-78

Lexington, Va. -- The VMI swimming team was defeated by Catholic Universtiy, 120-78 on Saturday afternoon at Cocke Hall.

The Keydets took first place in one of nine events and split the two relays with the Cardinals.

VMI's lone individual win came from junior Ryan Beatley (Grafton, Va./ Grafton) who took the honors in the 200-yard breaststroke event, timing 2:30.38.

Fellow freshman Ken Rhee (Northridge, Calif./ John F. Kennedy) placed second in the 200-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 1:55.97 and then came back to take second in the 500-yard freestyle event with a time of 5:37.49.

Fellos freshman Bart Payne (Mechanicsville, Va./ Atlee) took second in the 200-yard butterfly event, clocking a time of 2:12.61.

Sophomore Justin Fallin (Midland, Texas/ Robert E. Lee) came in second in the 200-yard backstroke with a mark of 2:13.55.

VMI will take the road next weekend, swimming at Davidson on Saturday and College of Charleston on Sunday.
