LEXINGTON, Va. - Highlighted by senior Keyandre Midgett winning the long jump, the VMI men's track and field team is off to a great start to the 2024 Southern Conference Track and Field Championships hosted by VMI at the Corps Physical Training Facility.
Midgett won the event with a distance of 7.49 meters. The Keydets scored 14 points in the event as Charles Male finished fifth in the event with a jump of 7.13m. After the first day, the Keydets are in fourth place at 29.5 points, just 1.5 behind third-place Furman.

"I was impressed for our men's team - starting with the shot put - led by freshman Rafe Clendenin throwing a personal-best throw to place. He was followed by Hunter Davis' personal-best throw in fourth place and Andrew Granger's personal-best throw to finish seventh."
"Midgett attempted to jump out of the sand pit with a personal best of 7.49m taking first place followed by teammate Charles Male's fifth place of 7.18m for the event."
